My Cloudy Crystal Ball
Thursday, April 12th, 2007Some clients like to tell me what the law is or what it should be. They don’t want to listen to me even though they are paying me handsomely for my advice and counsel.
Others insist on telling me what their neighbors or their relatives or their friends tell them about how their case should go.
Still others tell me how the judge will decide their case. Usually the judge will believe everything they say and nothing their spouse says and determine everything in the favor.
But the ones that are really tough, tell me all of the above and then ask me to confirm it for them. That is something I cannot and will not do. My crystal ball is too cloudy.
I tell them that it doesn’t matter what I think or how I would decide their case. That is up to the judge. And she isn’t talking. Yet.
